18 new photo signs at Overloon War Cemetery on 4 and 5 May

As many as 18 new photo signs will be on display at Overloon War Cemetery on 4 and 5 May 2025. Our researchers have now found 212 portrait photos of the 281 war graves at Overloon War Cemetery on Vierlingsbeekseweg in Overloon.
On Sunday 4 May (National Remembrance Day) and Monday 5 May (National Liberation Day), over 75% of the graves will feature a portrait photo. Besides the photo signs, we will also provide appropriate flag display on both days. There will be no further commemoration ceremony, but you are welcome to visit the War Cemetery during these days and see the impressive collection of photographs at the graves.
Already 216 biographies of the fallen servicemen are on our website, both in Dutch and English. Read the often extensive biographies via this link: https://www.overloonwarchronicles.nl/en/biographies/
Besides a visit to the War Cemetery during 4 and 5 May, we cordially invite you to the exhibition of the 23 drawings of Private Arthur Johnson. The collection includes drawings of various villages in the region in the period between October 1944 and March 1945, including Asten, Boxmeer, Gennep, Haps, Horst, Ledeacker, Meerlo, Oirlo, Oostrum, Overloon, Rijkevoort and Venray.
The exhibition will take place on Sunday 4 May and Monday 5 May at Community House De Pit, 14 Oktoberplein 2 in Overloon. Opening hours are from 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
