Lights on War Graves Land van Cuijk 2024

Also in 2024, there will once again be Lights on War Graves in the municipality of Land van Cuijk.
Together with the Veterans of the municipality of Land van Cuijk, Overloon War Chronicles and the Werkgroep Lichtjes op Oorlogsgraven LvC, candles will be placed on the 300 graves of fallen soldiers in the municipality for the 8th time.

These are the graves known to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, namely 3 in Grave, 4 in Sint Anthonis, 12 in Westerbeek and 281 in Overloon.

On 24 December, photographs will also be placed at the graves of the men, as far as they are in our possession.
It is expected, the candles will continue to burn on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, and the impressive site is well worth a visit.

The program on 24 December is as follows:

At 13.00, we will start in Grave with the placing of candles and the playing of the National Anthem and the Last Post.

At 14.00 we continue with the same program in Sint Anthonis.

At 14.45 it is Westerbeek’s turn and at 15.30 we hope to be back in Overloon.

At 15.30 the walk-in at Overloon War Cemetery starts

A delegation of the mayor and aldermen of the municipality of Land van Cuijk has promised to accompany us at all four locations. Also, weather permitting, some old army vehicles will accompany the group.

At 16.00 at Overloon War Cemetery, the official program will start with music, speeches, poems and recitations.
