Photos at Overloon war graves
4 & 5 May

On the 4th of May, the Netherlands commemorates all war victims past and present. In honour of the National Remembrance Day, this day commemorates the victims of violence during the Second World War in Overloon, the Netherlands and throughout Europe.
The National Commemoration followed by National Liberation Day are two special days when feelings of gratitude, sadness, admiration, amazement and bewilderment alternate and are very close together on these days. Freedom cannot be taken for granted even today, even if it sometimes feels that way for many of us.
Overloon War Chronicles Foundation will post photos of all the faces known so far at the graves at Overloon War Cemetery on 4 & 5 May. Currently, thanks to the intensive search by various researchers, more than half of the 281 photos have already been found. All of you are welcome to visit the cemetery these days and reflect on our freedom.
Join us on the 4th of May to remember the sacrifice made by the fallen soldiers during the Second World War and the indescribable suffering experienced by their families and all those involved in this conflict.
Join us on the 5th of May to celebrate that these men did not die in vain. Stop for a moment at the entrance gate and remember that we must be careful to preserve this freedom in honour of the boys who died and were buried so far from home.
