Photos at Overloon war graves
4 & 5 May
On 4 and 5 May across the Netherlands we pause to remember the victims of wars, both past and present. We also commemorate them at the British Cemetery in Overloon.
These days of remembrance and liberation bring us closer together and make us realise that freedom is precious and not to be taken for granted, even in today’s world, the year in which we are living in freedom in the Netherlands for 80 years.
The Overloon War Chronicles Foundation will place photographs at the graves on both days. Thanks to the efforts of several researchers, we have already found 174 photos of the 281 soldiers. Everyone is invited to visit the cemetery on these days and reflect on what freedom means to us.
For those who would like to bring a flower, large and small grave vases are available. Please bring some water of your own.
