Guided tour and personal stories at Overloon War Cemetery

CWGC War Graves Week Overloon War Cemetery

Overloon is one of 23,000 places around the world where the British Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) has cemeteries.
The CWGC manages all these cemeteries, many of which are maintained by their own teams, including the CWGC cemetery in Overloon, or Overloon War Cemetery on Vierlingsbeekseweg.
There are 281 graves there; 280 Commonwealth servicemen and 1 Dutch serviceman.

For the third year in a row, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission is organising a War Graves Week. This is a week focusing on Commonwealth war graves and cemeteries worldwide. The theme of War Graves Week 2023 is “Discover, Learn, Remember”.

On the occasion of this War Graves Week, the Overloon War Chronicles Foundation and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission invite you to attend one of the tours planned by the foundation at Overloon War Cemetery.

During these tours, foundation staff will give visitors an insight into the work of the CWGC. In addition, the staff will also tell the stories of some of the soldiers buried at the cemetery. Who are these men? How did they come to their end? Those who gave their lives for our freedom and are buried with ‘us’.

The two planned tours will take place on Saturday 20 May (starting at 10.30 a.m.) and Monday 22 May (starting at 7 p.m.).
We ask interested visitors to register before then via this Facebook link or via the logo below. Entrance is free of charge.
